Students participate in the Corporal Works of Mercy through serving as pallbearers at funerals for the homeless, veterans, socially poor and anyone who requests our services. Through the Joseph of Arimathea ministry, U of D Jesuit seniors and juniors strive to give dignity to every person, with no regard to social or economic class. Students participate in a comprehensive training and commit to this ministry year round in order to celebrate the lives of those whom we serve.
We set aside Nov. 11 of each year to reflect on the military service that brave men and women have given to our country. This is a day to remember and honor the sacrifice those Americans have given, some being the ultimate sacrifice.
The Most Reverend Allen Vigneron, Archbishop of Detroit, joined us today to celebrate the Mass of the North American Martyrs.
Students from University of Detroit Jesuit High School came to Mackinac Island for a week in mid-July on an 'immersion' trip as part of a ministry program with Ste. Anne Catholic Church, volunteering with carriage drivers, hotel employees, and street sweepers to experience a typical workday on the Island.
After nine days learning and experiencing the current situation in El Salvador, the Cubs have safely returned home from the trip.
