Br. James J. Boynton, S.J.
President
Brother James J. Boynton, S.J. became President in the fall of 2021. He entered the Jesuit order in 1987, and holds a Master of Theological Studies from Weston Jesuit School of Theology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Loyola University, New Orleans. He has spent 16 years at U of D Jesuit as a teacher, department chair, Advancement Officer, Principal, and Interim President. Previously, he spent 10 years as Vocation Director for the Midwest Jesuits and worked in Cleveland, India, and Haiti. He is fluent in Spanish, French, and Haitian Creole.
Christopher Smith, Ph.D.
Principal
Dr. Christopher Smith was named principal in July 2021. Previously, he served as associate principal for nearly 10 years at the International Academy in Bloomfield Hills, which regularly ranks among the top public high schools in the country. He taught at Okemos High School from 2003 to 2012 and was head of the Social Studies Department. He earned his Bachelor degree from Michigan State University, his Master's degree at the University of Michigan School of Education, and his Doctorate at Michigan State University College of Education.
Malcolm Teasdale P '21
Assistant Principal, Jesuit Academy
Mr. Malcolm Teasdale returns to U of D Jesuit as Assistant Principal for the Jesuit Academy, bringing 25 years of educational experience, including 17 in Jesuit schools. He previously held this role from 2008 to 2021 and most recently served as Dean of Academic Support at Christ the King Jesuit Prep in Chicago. Mr. Teasdale holds degrees from Tuskegee University, Touro College, U of D Mercy, and Wayne State, and is currently completing his doctorate in Interdisciplinary Leadership at Creighton University.
