Inspired by the life of Mary Lackamp, the Board of the Alumni Mothers' Club has established the Women for Others Scholarship.
Mary served in the school’s Student Affairs Office from 1974 to 2003, exemplifying authenticity, integrity, courage, love, forgiveness, hope, healing, and justice. She was considered by many as the unofficial "Mom" of U of D Jesuit. Following Mary’s retirement she continued serving with her signature smile in a variety of volunteer roles and attended many school celebrations and sporting events. Mary was tragically injured in a car accident after leaving a Cub basketball game in 2020, resulting in her death three days later on February 17, 2020.
