Brandon Spight '07 Scholarship

Brandon Spight

This scholarship fund has been established to honor the life and legacy of Brandon Lee Spight, who passed away during his senior year on February 11, 2007, after a brief illness later diagnosed as brain arteriovenous malformation.

Brandon’s walk on this earth was far too brief, but during that time, he exemplified the power of the human spirit and a capacity to instinctively connect with others. He made positive impacts on numerous lives, especially his classmates. His parents continue to hear stories about the leadership abilities he had and how loyal he was to his friends.

The Spight family created the Brandon Lee Spight Memorial Foundation (BLSMF) in 2009 with a vision to provide an educational opportunity to youth from diverse cultures and lower economic backgrounds who perpetuate the legacy of Brandon Lee Spight by demonstrating character, integrity, promise, commitment, and dedication to excellence in academics, athletics, and personal behavior.

The foundation is working towards raising funds to fully endow the U of D Jesuit scholarship to $250,000, which will keep the scholarship living in perpetuity.
