TUITION REDUCTION APPLICATION POLICY- DIVORCED, SEPARATED OR SINGLE PARENTS/GUARDIANS

For applicants with divorced, separated or single parents/guardians, the committee will consider the income of both biological parents, if living, before making any award.

A FACTS Grant Aid Application and Federal Income Tax return must be submitted separately by each biological parent/guardian and will, of course, be held in strict confidence.

If the custodial parent/guardian has remarried, we also consider the assets of the stepparent, bearing in mind the obligation to his or her own biological children. The FACTS Grant Aid Application should include the stepparent information including a Federal Tax Return (if filed separately), current employment, income, child support, etc.

If the non-custodial biological parent is unable to complete a separate tuition reduction application, a letter must be provided to the Financial Aid Committee explaining the circumstances. The letter must include the non-custodial parent’s name and address (if available). The letter should also include the nature of the non-custodial parent’s relationship to the student. Applications that do not include this information cannot be processed. If the non-custodial parent provides educational financial support, please state the amount in your letter.

If each parent/guardian wishes to be considered for financial aid awards, any award will be based on each parent/guardian paying one-half of tuition – unless we have received information to the contrary.
