Summer learning programs are available in just about every area of study, from the arts and sciences to athletics.

They present an opportunity for students to meet new classmates, familiarize themselves with our campus, and develop their skills and interests. Please see the program offerings listed below. We look forward to spending some time with you this summer!

Summer Enrichment Programs

Chess

Dates: June 24-27
3 - 6 p.m.
Camp Fee: $200
Open To: Boys Entering Grades 6-9
Location: U of D Jesuit Campus

Chess is an international game, played for over 1500 years! Learn why this game is still as popular as ever and learn how to play from a chess master. The game is within the game as you learn about strategy, improve your memory and critical thinking skills, and nurture creativity.

Led by the U of D Jesuit Science Department, Science Tuesday explores certain topics each Tuesday afternoon. The class starts with an introduction and explanation into the concept, then concludes with an exciting experiment which shows how science plays a role in our lives every day!

Iron Cubs is the official summer off-season strength and speed development program at U of D Jesuit. Each workout is uniquely designed with an age specific total-athlete focus in mind. This program was nationally recognized in the Nike Coach of the Year Manual. Iron Cubs is a great way to meet new friends and build bonds with future classmates before the start of the school year. The fee includes 15 speed, strength, and agility workouts, supervised by a trained staff of U of D Jesuit coaches.

Location: The PARC

The Lacrosse Camp provides young athletes with the opportunity to become better lacrosse players by providing instruction from our coaches in a positive and fun atmosphere. We provide a unique opportunity for players to improve their game through personal attention and setting individual goals. Our energetic staff is committed to the individual development of each lacrosse player. We promote a safe and healthy environment both on and off the field and we practice teamwork through leadership opportunities that lead to on-field lessons of integrity, honesty, and mutual encouragement.

Whether it is taking a class for credit or preparing for a new adventure, enrolled students are encouraged to explore their options.

High School Classes

Art I

Dates: June 17 - 21
8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Open To: Boys Entering Grades 10-12
Location: U of D Jesuit Campus

Art I is an introductory course designed to help students understand the fundamentals of art. Students will learn design basics and how to use various media. The work of various artists will be introduced, and students will complete projects based on their study. The course will include work in drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, and printmaking.

21st Century Media and Communications (COURSE FULL)

Location: Main Campus (6/17-21)

This course is designed to challenge students to think critically and analyze verbal and non-verbal communication in the modern world. The students will learn to prepare and give formal public presentations and engage in a five-part media project that will incorporate public speaking, website creation, non-verbal communication, and video/sound recording/editing.

High School Academic Research

Dates: June 10 - 14
9 - 11 a.m.

Open To: Boys Entering Grades 10-12
Location: The PARC (location change)

This is a workshop designed for rising juniors and seniors to gain familiarity with the steps of academic research. Covered in the course will be topic selection, keyword searching, finding, and evaluating sources, and proper MLA citation. Taught by the Head of the Library Research Center at the Mardigian Library - University of Michigan Dearborn.

For incoming 9th graders, this four-week program (five days a week for four weeks) with U of D Jesuit faculty and staff is poised to help a student transition from middle school into the challenges of a college-prep high school. Throughout the four weeks, students will take classes in English, math, reading, and study skills which will give them a better understanding of what they can anticipate in August.

Your son is entering into the Jesuit Academy, but is he ready? Can he operate a locker? Can he tie a tie? Does he know where his classrooms will be? This weeklong course is designed to answer all of those pertinent questions and prepare for the Jesuit experience he will be part of for the next five or six years.
