Cubs Football Sweeps Grosse Pointe North To Open 2021 Campaign
Quarterback Patrick McVeigh ’22 (Grosse Pointe Farms, St. Paul) ran for two touchdowns and threw for one more to lead the Varsity Cubs to a 34-13 season-opening win over the Norsemen of Grosse Pointe North. McVeigh led the rushing attack with 88-yards on 11 carries. Wide receiver Chris Mutebi ’22 (Farmington Hills, Jesuit Academy) tallied four catches for 67 yards and a score. The Cub defense was stout, holding the Norsemen to 67-yards rushing and forcing two turnovers, one of which was scooped up and returned for a touchdown by Trent Floyd ’22 (Detroit, Detroit Merit Academy).
The Junior Varsity team achieved great success in their opening game of the season, defeating Grosse Pointe North, 27-0, on Wednesday night.
The Cubs' Varsity team travels to Grandville on Friday, September 3. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
Junior Varsity will host Grandville on Thursday, September 2 at 6 p.m. at U of D Jesuit (backfield).
