Transfer applications for the fall semester are due by July 15.

Transferring to U of D Jesuit can be a transformative and rewarding experience for students and families alike. While the process is more detailed than applying as an incoming 9th grader, our Admissions Office is here to support you every step of the way.

*January transfer applicants must have completed semester exams before Christmas break or earned equivalent credits from their current school.

Transfer application timelines typically begin in April for summer transfers and November for mid-year transfers.

Transfer Candidate Requirements:

A minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
Grades of C or higher in all core academic subjects:
- English
- Math
- Social Studies
- Science
- Foreign Language
- (Theology, if coming from a Catholic school)
Must have earned all possible credits
A positive disciplinary and attendance record
Standardized test scores at or above grade level
Personal interview with our school principal

Transfer Application Process

Application

Families interested in transferring to University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy must complete and submit the online application available through our admissions portal.

For January (semester) transfers, applications and all supporting documents must be submitted by the second Friday in December to allow time for review and scheduling.
For fall (summer) transfers, the full application process must be completed by July 15.

Transcript Requirements

Transfer applicants must upload unofficial transcripts during the application process. Final, official transcripts are required before the student begins classes.

Please note:

Students must be current with all credits and on track to graduate with their current class.
U of D Jesuit does not offer credit recovery or allow for grade-level reclassification

Student Essay

As part of the application, transfer students must submit a personal essay explaining their reasons for seeking a transfer to University of Detroit Jesuit and how they would contribute to and benefit from our school community. This essay must be typed or written by the applicant and can be uploaded directly through the application checklist.

Please respond to the prompts below using complete sentences, minimum 300 words. Responses must be written entirely by the applicant alone, without the assistance of any form of artificial intelligence or technology.

The transfer essay should answer the following questions:

1. Why are you thinking of changing schools at this point in your education?

2. If you could change one thing about your current school, what would it be?

3. Choose one of your activities or interests and describe the difference it has made in your life.

4. What do you see as your strengths/weaknesses?

To formally request records (transcripts, standardized testing, discipline records, etc.) from your child's current school please complete the form below and submit it to your child's current school.

Athletic Eligibility

Athletic Participation and Eligibility

All athletic eligibility for transfer students is determined by the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA). Students are encouraged to indicate any athletic interests on their application and to discuss them during their admissions consultation.

Please note that athletic participation does not influence admissions decisions for transfer applicants.

While University of Detroit Jesuit does not schedule meetings with coaches as part of the admissions process, any questions regarding athletics or eligibility can be directed to the Admissions Office, and we’ll be happy to assist or connect you with the appropriate athletic staff if needed.
