Entrance Exams
An entrance exam is an admissions requirement for both U of D Jesuit High School and for the Jesuit Academy. Our Admissions Committee reviews a portfolio of application materials for every applicant. The entrance exam score is considered as a part of a holistic application review.
The listed test dates will be for both the high school and the Academy. Students who are entitled to extended time are asked to submit their paper work to the U of D Jesuit Admissions Office at least two weeks before a scheduled test date. If an applicant is not able to take an entrance exam during one of the scheduled test dates, please contact the Admissions Office.
High School Placement Test Prep Class
High School Placement Test (HSPT) Prep Class at University of Detroit Jesuit High School & Academy is designed to help 8th-grade boys feel confident and prepared for the HSPT, a required part of the high school admissions process. This focused class reviews key content areas-math, reading, language, and verbal skills-while also teaching valuable test-taking strategies. Taught by experienced U of D Jesuit faculty, the course provides a supportive environment where students can build skills, ask questions, and reduce test-day anxiety. It's a great way to get ready for the exam and get a feel for the U of D Jesuit classroom experience.
High School Placement Test
U of D Jesuit is a test site for the Archdiocese of Detroit's High School Placement Test. Parents are encouraged to register their sons online for the test. To register after the deadline, please call the Admissions Office.
Students are permitted to take the High School Placement Test one time.

Tests begin at 8 AM and finish at 11:30 AM; extended time testing ends at 12:30 AM.
Registration Instructions for Testing at U of D Jesuit
- REGISTER online for the HSPT.
- Click the test date below for testing at U of D Jesuit.
- Pay the registration fee online with a credit/debit card. Contact the Admissions Office if you require alternate payment options.
- DESIGNATE U of D Jesuit to receive your son's test results.
- RECEIVE an immediate confirmation email and registration number. Print and keep your email confirmation somewhere safe; you will need it to make any updates or changes to your registration.
- TAKE the HSPT. Students should bring a copy of their registration number with them to U of D Jesuit on the day of the test.
On Test Day
- Arrive between 7:30 - 7:45 AM with a copy of your online registration
- Please enter the building through the Atrium entrance (Door #4) on the east end of the building as you enter campus from 7 Mile Road.
- Exam begins promptly at 8 AM. (late arrivals cannot be accommodated)
- Bring two #2 pencils.
- Dress comfortably.
- Bottled water and snacks are allowed.

The test is scheduled to begin at 8 AM and finish at 11:30 AM; extended time testing ends at 12:30 PM.
On Test Day
- Arrive between 7:40 - 7:50 AM with a copy of your online registration
- Please enter the building through the Atrium entrance (Door #4) on the east end of the building as you enter campus from 7 Mile Road
- Exam begins promptly at 8 AM. (late arrivals cannot be accommodated)
- Bring two #2 pencils.
- Dress comfortably.
- Bottled water and snacks are allowed.
