Monday, Sept. 10 - Admissions Info Night

WHEN:
Monday, September 10th, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., followed by light refreshments.

The U of D Jesuit Student Commons.

WHO:
Prospective students and parents.

WHY:

• Get an introduction to the strong tradition of Jesuit Education.

Friday, Sept. 14 - Fall Sports Night

WHO: 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th Grade Boys are invited to Sports Night

The sports will include: Basketball • Dodgeball • Floor Hockey • Soccer • Football

WHEN: The Sports Night will take place on Friday, September 14th Drop off 5:30 to 6:00pm Pick-up: 9:00pm

WHERE: U of D Jesuit High School • 8400 South Cambridge • Detroit, MI 48221 Drop off and pickup will take place at the Atrium entrance near the east end of the front of the school building.

COST: $20 includes pizza, Gatorade, and T-shirt.

Tuesday, September 25 - Cub for a Day Visits Begin (Schedule Now!)

If you are interested in scheduling a "Cub for a Day" visit at U of D Jesuit , please call 313-927-2307.

Cub for a Day:

  • Meets U of D Jesuit teachers
  • Experiences the academic excellence at U of D Jesuit
  • Enjoys our delicious lunch (on us!)
  • Possibly participates in a lunch-time intramural game, if desired
  • Experiences the spirit that is U of D Jesuit

Students and parents are asked to arrive at U of D Jesuit by 7:45 AM - please enter into the building through the visitor entrance (Door #1, west of main entrance). Upon arrival, students and parents will be greeted by a member of the Admissions Department and the student will meet their host for the day.

Please keep these items in mind for the "Cub for a Day" visit:

  • Dress code is a collared, button down shirt and a tie, dress pants (no jeans), and dress shoes
  • Bring a bag of gym clothes and gym shoes in case your host has a gym class
  • Bring a book to read in case a test is being given in a class you are visiting
  • Again, no need to bring a lunch - it's on us!
  • The Cub for a Day visit ends at dismissal time at 2:45 PM. Parents are asked to pick up their son from the visitor entrance.

Parents are invited to tour the school when your son comes in for his "Cub for a Day" visit. The parent tour typically ends by 9:00 AM. If your family is interested in touring the school at another time, please contact the Admissions Department at (313) 927-2309 or via e-mail at admissions-team@uofdjesuit.org.

The High School Placement Test (HSPT) measures a student's ability in cognitive and basic skill areas and can be administered in a relatively limited amount of time. Since the entire battery is standardized the end results are directly comparable for all test areas and can be related to the level of the students at the time of entering high school.

U of D Jesuit is a test center for the Catholic High School Placement Test (HSPT) and any individual who is thinking about going to a Catholic High School can test here. The dates for the HSPT are as follows:

  • Saturday, November 17, 2018
  • Saturday, December 1, 2018*
  • Saturday, February 2, 2019
  • Saturday, March 2, 2019

*Includes extended time testing for qualified students.

Extended time testing is offered to high school applicants who have the accommodation to receive extended time through an evaluation or an IEP. The date for extended testing is December 3, 2018. Those student are required to register online and notify the admissions office in advance at (313) 927-2307.

We encourage applicants to take the HSPT in November or December of their 8th grade year. Students who complete their admission file by December 31, 2018 (including the HSPT score) will receive their admission decision on January 25, 2019.

Testing begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. Students should arrive by 7:45 a.m. with the testing finishing around 11:30 a.m. The cost of the test is $40 and online pre-registration is required.

The Academy Entrance Exam measures basic skills and has three sub-tests: Language, Reading, and Mathematics. The test dates for the Academy Entrance Exam are as follows:

  • Saturday, November 17, 2018
  • Saturday, December 1, 2018*
  • Saturday, February 2, 2019
  • Saturday, March 2, 2019

The test begins promptly at 8 a.m. Students should arrive by 7:45 a.m. The cost of the test is $30 and there is no pre-registration necessary.

This test measures your ability to remember important ideas and significant details, recognize central thought or purpose, make logical inferences, and understand vocabulary in context.

Mathematics

This test not only measures your ability to perform arithmetic operations and apply math concepts to solve problems, but also your knowledge of important concepts and ability to reason.

Language

This test measures your knowledge of capitalization, punctuation, grammar, spelling, usage, and composition.
