For more than 130 years now U of D Jesuit has offered one of the finest educational programs in the State and has done so at a significant discount compared to other top Michigan schools. This is possible because of the ongoing commitment of the Jesuits and the generous financial support of thousands of alumni, parents, students and friends. We all want to keep the tuition as affordable as possible for all families and continue to provide assistance to our students where it is needed. By doing so, we will continue to attract the remarkably diverse group of outstanding students that makes U of D Jesuit so unique. In addition, we will continue to make sure that no student will ever miss his class retreat or club trip or be unable to participate in an extracurricular activity because of inability to cover the associated costs.
You may have already heard about the "tuition gap", what it actually costs the school to educate our sons in comparison to what is charged in tuition. This year's "tuition gap" is $2,250 per student, dollars needed to cover costs for technology updates, counseling, retreats and service programs. Filling this gap is the focus of the Parent Partnership Initiative. Our goal is to raise $145,000 and increase parent participation up from last year's 51%.
While financial abilities vary, our ability to make a commitment to our sons, their school and each other does not vary. Each gift is important, be it $25, $50, or $2,250. Parent participation impacts U of D Jesuit's eligibility to secure foundation grants. Granting institutions want to know that we "support our own". Though the dollars are important, the number of families that donate is a key factor.
We invite you to attend one of the Parent Partnership receptions to talk with Fr. Karl Kiser and others about keeping education at U of D Jesuit affordable for all.
Please participate in this year's Parent Partnership Initiative. Your gift is fully tax deductible.
