Mac Olson '09 earns roster spot with Chicago Steel

Mac Olson '09 became the first U of D Jesuit Alumnus to earn a spot in the United States Hockey League.  Mac, a 2008 draft choice of the Chicago Steel, participated in the Steel Selection Camp from June 8-14, 2009 and has earned a roster spot for the 2009-10 USHL season.
Mac will now return home to continue his training regimen for the remainder of the summer and will relocate to Chicago in August to pursue his dream of playing Division I college hockey.  The Steel placed 15 players from their 08-09 roster into Division I college hockey for the 09-10 season.
The United States Hockey League is America's only Tier I Junior hockey league. Tier I Junior hockey is the highest and most competitive level of junior hockey in America. The USHL supplies NCAA Division I hockey with more players than any other league in North America. In the 2008/09 season 179 USHL players from 12 teams committed to NCAA Division I hockey.
The USHL also had 18 players drafted in the National Hockey League Draft in 2008, inlcuding one player in the first round
